  • Design and Plan: Decide on the design and pattern you want to create. You can draw it on paper first or work directly on the base.

  • Break or Cut Tiles: If needed, break or cut the tiles into desired shapes and sizes using tile nippers.

  • Glue Tiles: Apply adhesive to the base and carefully place the tiles on it according to your design. Allow the adhesive to dry and set the tiles firmly in place.

  • Grout: Once the tiles are secured, fill the gaps between them with grout. Wipe off any excess grout with a damp sponge. Let it dry.

  • Clean and Seal: After the grout has completely dried, clean the surface of the mosaic to reveal the tiles' shine. You may want to apply a sealer to protect the mosaic and enhance its appearance.

Do I need to grout my mosaic? Grouting is not required for interior walls, but it is essential for floor and exterior wall installations. Moreover, grouting is mandatory for mosaic installations on walls exposed to water or liquids, such as bathroom or kitchen walls.

What is the difference between Regular grout and epoxy grout?

  • Regular grout is a traditional cement-based grout that is commonly used in tile installations. It comes in various colours and is suitable for most indoor tile applications. However, it may require sealing to prevent staining or water penetration, especially for porous tiles like natural stone.

  • Epoxy grout is a more advanced and durable option compared to regular grout. It is available in a wide range of colours and is highly resistant to stains, moisture, and bacteria growth, making it an excellent choice for areas prone to water exposure, such as showers, swimming pools, and kitchen countertops. Additionally, epoxy grout does not require sealing and is less likely to crack or break over time, providing a longer-lasting solution. However, epoxy grout can be more challenging to work with due to its quick curing time and may cost more than regular grout.

In summary, if you need grout for standard indoor applications with moderate exposure to moisture, regular grout should suffice. On the other hand, if you require a more durable and water-resistant solution for areas with high water exposure or heavy use, epoxy grout is the recommended choice.

What finishes do your mosaics have? Our mosaics typically come with a polished finish, where the mosaic stones are smoothed to achieve a vibrant and glossy appearance. However, if you prefer to maintain the natural look of the stones, we are more than happy to leave them unpolished in your mosaic masterpiece.

Can I install the mosaics inside shower cubicles? or it is slippery? The slipperiness of mosaic pieces can vary based on factors such as the finish applied, and the surrounding environment. Polished mosaic pieces might have a smoother surface, which could potentially be more slippery when wet compared to natural mosaic pieces. It's important to consider the intended use and location of the mosaic to determine whether additional precautions, such as using non-slip adhesives or sealants, are necessary to ensure safety.

Our natural mosaics offer a non-slip surface, making them suitable for installation within shower cubicles, pools, and any area prone to water exposure.
